Reporting to the Manager- Product Development, the role holder will be responsible for conduct research and derive insights to identify changes/opportunities in the market. This person provides product improvements or new products by using analytics.Ultimately, the job holder will manage the enhancement of product offerings aligning with the business strategy and keeping dfcu Bank ahead of competition.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Provide input into the development of product papers/business cases by working with the Product Management Team, subject matter experts and other stakeholders to perform business analysis and conduct customer research to support current and new product roadmaps supporting multiple business lines.
  • Interface with product functional development leads to making sure that product requirements are understood.
  • Create and drive functional prototypes based on business specifications and analyze the feasibility of, and develop requirements for, new capabilities and enhancements to existing products; ensure that designs fit the business objectives.
  • Provide product training, relevant product papers, printed and electronic promotional material and the necessary technical expertise for the sales team to enable them to sell the product.
  • Leverage technical acumen to understand the potential of new ways to reach customers in digital ecosystems. Plan and support business process to identify go to market strategies for new products.
  • Explore new ways of improving existing services and products as a way of increasing profitability by Monitor and analyze market trends. Study competitors' services and products. Identify and present creative and innovative product solutions.
  • Define and execute new business concepts in emerging platforms (eg Robotics, Machine Learning, AI, Artificial intelligence, Automated voice applications).
  • Build and develop fintech relationships and develop strategic partnerships with those who share the bank's goal of continuous innovation and breakthrough thinking.
  • Suggest workable solutions to development teams with consideration for product contract, positioning, and market requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Computing, Commerce, Accounting or Business Statistics or a related field.
  • Adept at Financial Technology & Innovation.
  • A professional qualification in financial services and technology.
  • Project Management (e.g. Prince II or Agile Methodology) would be added advantage).
  • 3-5 years' relevant work experience at a large financial services institution.
  • Ability to prepare product papers / Business case.
  • Ability to lead and inspire fintech teams that bring products to market faster than our competition is critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to link and apply complex technologies to business strategies & a high proficiency in Information and Communication Technology.
  • Passionate about product innovation improving consumer experience.
  • Strong skills in business process analysis and redesign.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, FinTech, and product development trends.
  • Strong skills in project management and project execution.
  • Familiarity with the financial services industry in Uganda.
  • Strong understanding and experience in digital banking services.
  • Experience collaborating with a team of programmers with varying skillsets.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work in a rapid and iterative development environment.
Experience with data analytics and tagging concepts.
  • High level of integrity and strong entrepreneurial skills.
  • Strong skills at relationship building.
  • Self-drive and initiative.
  • Strong leader with soft-power skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex information clearly and appropriately handle sensitive information.
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented individual who is capable of self-managing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business priorities and a strong work ethic.
  • Endlessly curious in how emerging digital trends can translate into excellent customer experiences.
