This role involves managing consulting projects, analysing business challenges, developing recommendations, and ensuring client satisfaction. The manager will also play a key role in business development, team leadership, and regulatory compliance, contributing to the firm's overall growth and market positioning in Burundi and the East African region.Roles and ResponsibilitiesGrowth & Profitability
  • Developing and implementing strategies for business growth and expansion.
  • Conducting market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities for business growth.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and revenue streams.
  • Respond to bids and prepare both technical and financial proposals.
  • Deliver within the scope of the projects while meeting or exceeding profit targets.
  • Following up on the payment of fees by clients.
Leadership / Employee Excellence & BDO Relationships
  • Providing leadership and guidance to team members.
  • Coaching team members, recognising their strengths, and encouraging them to take ownership of their personal development.
  • Mentor and develop junior consultants, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Conducting regular performance reviews and implementing improvement initiatives.
  • Resolving issues which prevent the team from working effectively.
  • Building and maintaining a strong organisational culture that values diversity and inclusion.
Market Focus / Client Centricity
  • Ensure extensive analysis of client needs, existing client processes, understanding the client's business landscape, defining requirements, and then expertly delivering solutions and strategies.
  • Manage client relationships and set expectations.
  • Provide clients with timely updates on project progress/phases.
  • Carry out after-sales services monitoring and evaluation to ensure customer needs are met, and issues are properly addressed.
  • Liaising closely with clients to ensure that required information is received and handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Research and resolve any technical queries from clients.
Operational Excellence
  • Developing work plans in line with the strategic plan.
  • Source and bring together subject matter expertise for specified niche projects.
  • Manage project risk, up/cross-selling, and oversight of team deliverables.
  • Support all department divisions in proposal development and Quality Assurance of all documents produced before submission.
  • Monitor efficient execution and timely delivery of projects to clients within the designated timeframe.
  • Manage the planning and execution of consulting projects, including project management, research and analysis, and report writing.
  • Ensuring effective management of client data and confidentiality.
  • Lead project teams and work closely with senior consultants to develop and execute effective solutions for clients.
Quality, Risk, and Compliance
  • Developing and implementing risk management strategies and controls.
  • Draft comprehensive project reports and recommendations to the organisation's management/client.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Developing and maintaining internal and external communication channels.
Experience & Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, PMP, M&E qualifications and others are desirable.
  • 5-8 years of experience in consulting, strategy, or business advisory services.
  • Proven experience leading projects in the consulting space for private and public sector clients.
  • Strong knowledge of the Burundian business environment, regulatory framework, and economic landscape.
Specific Skills:
  • Ability to analyse complex business challenges, develop data-driven solutions, and drive execution.
  • Strong skills in managing projects, budgets, teams, and stakeholders to deliver results.
  • Expertise in building client relationships, identifying opportunities, and developing proposals.
  • Understanding of Burundi's business environment.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
  • Proficiency in English, Kirundi and French is required.
